Campbell County Busted Mugshots
A Campbell County arrest record lives in more than one drawer. The agency that made the arrest keeps its own incident report. Booking and custody details sit with the Campbell County Adult Detention Center, or CCADC, which the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority runs. Courts hold whatever the case becomes later. Knowing which holder has what saves you from guessing when a search comes up empty.
Virginia law draws its own lines here. Under Va. Code § 2.2-3706, adult identity, charge, and arrest-status information is addressed, and a routine intake photo must be released on request unless an active felony investigation makes disclosure a problem. That right to ask is real. It does not turn a locator into a photo gallery, though.
Campbell Booking Record Fields
Keep your request narrow and specific. Give a name, a rough date range, and your best guess at the agency. The catch is that fields scatter. A jail record may hold some, a sheriff report others, and a court file the rest. BRRJA's public material makes no promises about JailTracker result fields. So ask for records that exist. Don't assume every field will show up in a public search.
| Field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Name and identity | Adult arrest identity information, not a court outcome. |
| Booking date or number | An existing jail record may maintain these details; the public locator does not promise them. |
| Charges as booked | The charge recorded at booking, which can later change in court. |
| Facility and custody status | Whether a result concerns current CCADC custody, not a permanent arrest history. |
| Bond or court event | Possible jail or court information, not a field guaranteed by the locator landing page. |
| Adult intake photograph | An existing routine image may be requested under the statute, subject to applicable limits. |
Juvenile material is another matter entirely. Virginia shields juvenile photos and fingerprints under § 16.1-299. Never use adult-access language to hunt for a juvenile image. And keep perspective on gaps: a missing adult result does not prove a case was sealed, expunged, dismissed, or never existed.
Request Busted-Booking Records
Aim your request at whoever actually holds the record. CCADC questions about intake, custody, release, or routine photos go to BRRJA. Incident, arrest, service, and warrant questions go to the Campbell County Sheriff's Office instead. The county's electronic Sheriff/Public Safety records form asks for a record description, date range, holder, format, and contact details. That keeps a request tight. It never asks an agency to create something new.
- Identify the person, an approximate booking or arrest date, and the agency or facility that likely holds the record.
- Ask for the existing adult booking, custody, or arrest record and list the needed fields, such as charges as booked, booking date, booking number if maintained, and custody or release entries.
- For an existing routine intake image, ask the appropriate holder whether it is releasable under § 2.2-3706 and state the facility and date range.
- Ask for a written cost estimate before extensive work. BRRJA’s FOIA page identifies Patricia Stevens, FOIA Officer, at 434-847-3100 ext. 1224 and foiarequest@brrja.state.va.us.
- Keep the written response. It may provide records, state a lawful withholding, explain a partial release, say no responsive record was found, or invoke a permitted extension.
Virginia agencies generally must respond within five working days. Seven more days are allowed in qualifying circumstances. Estimated charges above $200 can trigger a deposit. Campbell County publishes planning figures, but constitutional offices set their own policies. BRRJA lists no photo-specific fee. So ask for an estimate. Don't treat a generic county price as a CCSO or CCADC charge. The CCSO request form spells out exactly what a sheriff-held records request needs.
The form supports a focused description and date range. It does not decide whether a record is releasable or which agency holds it.
Virginia Law for Booking Photos
People call several different things "removal." An agency correction, a court process, a publisher's own takedown form, and a search-engine refresh each have different decision makers. If an official record looks wrong, contact the holder. Bring the exact entry, date, and supporting facts. No published CCSO or BRRJA correction timetable exists, so expect none.
Virginia's § 8.01-40.3 offers a civil remedy when a covered entity demands value to remove arrest or charge information. It is not an automatic deletion order. It also settles nothing about accuracy. Keep any payment demand, get legal advice, and use a documented court or publisher process. Never pay a third party making a removal demand.
Expungement and the newer sealing processes are court-controlled. The Virginia Sentencing Commission explains the post-July 1, 2026 framework. It includes automatic and petition-based paths, each with conditions. Eligibility turns on the actual record and the law. A listing that vanished proves nothing about sealing.
Question: Can an intake photo be requested if JailTracker shows none? Answer: Yes. The statutory route and the public interface are separate. Ask the holder for an existing adult routine intake image with the person, facility, and date range, and respect statutory limits and the ongoing felony-investigation exception.
Juvenile Limits on Busted Records
Adult procedures in Campbell County open no door to juvenile information. Virginia handles juvenile law-enforcement records and photographs under separate rules. A public result that seems to match a name should never be used to infer a juvenile identity. An adult booking-photo request should never be redirected toward a juvenile file, either. That boundary matters most when a secondary publisher shows incomplete or altered material.
Retention is not visibility. The Library of Virginia's GS-08 schedule keeps one jail incarceration-record series, booking sheets and photographs included, for three years after separation. A cumulative booking/release series stays 20 years. Those timelines do not force a photo to remain online. They don't promise a particular item is held, and they can't override a court order or confidentiality rule.
Find Campbell Custody and Arrest Records
Ask the custody question first. Is the person likely behind bars at the Campbell County Adult Detention Center right now? If so, start with the CCADC current-custody locator. That's the route BRRJA provides for people held at the regional facility today. The live interface will walk you through the search. Write down exactly what a current result says, nothing more. Treat the result as a snapshot of custody at that moment, since a match or a miss only tells you what the locator shows right then.
- Check the CCADC locator when current local custody is the question.
- Use the appropriate BRRJA or CCSO records route when an adult was booked but is no longer in a current search, or when a specific existing document is needed.
- Use the court case system for hearings, case progress, and a disposition after booking.
- Use state, federal, or immigration tools only when their distinct custody category fits the person’s situation.
Campbell County has no verified official booking feed. There is no same-day arrest log. No rolling multiday roster exists. No agency photo gallery does either. That gap matters. A custody locator answers one question: who is held now. It does not list everyone arrested in Campbell County, past or present. An empty result proves nothing either way. Resist the urge to build a conclusion from a blank screen.
Where Campbell Busted Mugshots Appear
Go to official sources first. Each channel has a defined boundary. It covers either current custody or a specific record type. The table here does not promise a photo in any live result. What it does is flag whether a documented photo route exists for Campbell. It then points you to the right place to begin.
| Channel | Photo route? | Official? | Use for |
|---|---|---|---|
| CCADC current-custody locator | Not documented on the landing page | Yes | A person currently held at CCADC. |
| BRRJA or CCSO records request | Adult routine intake photo may be requested | Yes | An existing jail or sheriff-held record. |
| Virginia court records | Not a photo source | Yes | Hearings, case progress, and disposition. |
| VADOC locator | Display policy not promised | Yes | Applicable state custody or supervision. |
| County publishers and news | Some may display images | No | A carefully labeled lead that requires official verification. |
Official channels sometimes come up empty. When they do, secondary publisher pages remain. For Campbell County those include BustedNewspaper, RecentlyBooked, Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, and Mugshots Zone. None of these speak for BRRJA. Their photos, dates, labels, and charge text reflect publisher choices, not jail policy or legal status. Mugshots.com's Campbell coverage is historical only, running from 2013 through 2017. RecentlyBooked uses a "Campbell County/Independent City" heading. That wording is the site's own, not an official jurisdiction classification.
CCADC Current-Custody Roster
CCADC is run by BRRJA, not by a standalone Campbell sheriff jail. The facility page links the person search. So calling it the CCADC current-custody locator is more accurate than calling it a sheriff gallery. The public source documents nothing about search fields. Nothing about result fields, photo settings, or update times. Nothing on outages, release history, or how long entries persist. Follow the live prompts as given. Do not assume the tool has features borrowed from a generic JailTracker product.
| Search question | What the official source supports |
|---|---|
| Is the person held at CCADC now? | Use the current-custody locator and treat a result as current facility custody only. |
| Does the portal show a photo or bond? | Availability is not documented on the official landing page. Verify the live result or request an existing record. |
| Was someone arrested or released earlier? | The locator cannot decide that. Use a targeted record request and then the court path. |
The BRRJA CCADC facility page is the official doorway into the regional facility's current-custody search.
That source settles two things: who runs the facility and where the locator lives. It documents no public mugshot setting. It shows no booking archive and no promised posting interval.
Question: Does a blank result mean someone was never arrested? Answer: No. Custody changes fast. The person may have been released, transferred, held at another facility, or not yet entered into the system. Only the responsible agency can explain a particular record.
Busted Last Night? No Official Feed
Campbell does not publish what people often call "today's bookings." No official same-day page exists. Not a 24-hour, 48-hour, or 72-hour log. Not a weekly or rolling new-bookings page for CCADC. There is no documented field list, photo policy, refresh schedule, weekend posting practice, or historical archive. No rule says released people stay visible for a set number of days. CCSO news releases, social posts, and alerts do not add up to a dated booking log.
A narrower path works better. Check current CCADC custody first. Then request an existing BRRJA or CCSO record with a date range. Then check court information for a later case. Secondary sites may show time stamps, cards, or date filters. Layout alone does not make them an official Campbell arrest feed. Verify custody with BRRJA. Verify case outcomes with the court.
Note: A list with photos or fresh-looking time stamps can still omit transfers, releases, and changed charges.
State Custody After Campbell Booking
The VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator covers a different layer of the system. It searches state custody, not local bookings. VADOC asks for the first three letters of a first name plus the full last name, or a seven-digit DOC number. Filters include location, race, gender, and age. Coverage spans VADOC institutions, community supervision, institutional hospitals, certain local or regional jail authority contexts, and Community Corrections Alternative Program settings. Someone freshly booked at CCADC will not appear here. Use it for state custody, not local booking questions.
VADOC refreshes the data daily. It also warns the information may be inaccurate or out of date. The landing page has no booking-photo field, so it is not an image gallery. State-held records follow VADOC's own FOIA route, which may involve a discretionary inmate-record exemption. Federal Bureau of Prisons and ICE locators handle federal or immigration custody questions only.
Booked, Released, or Sentenced
Read records by custody state, not as one lifelong listing. People move between stages. A result in one system never replaces the others. Each stage below answers a different question about where a person stands.
| Status | Best starting point | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| Currently held at CCADC | Official CCADC locator | Current custody only, not guilt or final outcome. |
| Booked but no longer shown | BRRJA or CCSO request | No result does not explain why the person is absent. |
| Case after booking | Campbell General District Court and the appropriate case search | Search the correct court and confirm the case details. |
| Applicable state custody or supervision | VADOC locator | Not every Campbell arrest belongs in VADOC’s coverage. |
| Federal or immigration custody | Federal or immigration locator | Separate systems, not CCADC booking records. |
Busted Cases: Campbell Court Route
Want to track what happened after a Campbell County booking? The court file is where the real story lives. Head to Campbell General District Court at 732 Village Highway in Rustburg, or call Clerk Chantel T. Jones at 434-332-9546. Dockets for local officers run on Tuesdays, while State Police dockets land on the second through fourth Fridays. Incarcerated defendants get video advisements as needed. A CCADC search tells you about the arrest itself; the court record tells you what came next.
Virginia's online case search works by name, case number, or hearing date once you pick the right court. Misdemeanors and felony preliminary hearings start in General District Court, and some cases move up to Circuit Court. A search that comes back empty could mean many things. The court level was wrong, the spelling was off, or the case sits in a nonpublic status.
- Booking
- Jail intake and record creation after an arrest or transfer into custody.
- Arraignment
- An early court appearance where a charge and procedural rights may be addressed.
- Bond
- A court or release condition, not a finding that a charge is true.
- Disposition
- The later court outcome, such as dismissal, acquittal, plea, or another resolution.
Campbell Alerts vs Busted-Roster Searches
There is no official CCSO or BRRJA app for Campbell jail rosters, daily bookings, or booking photos. For notifications, CCSO's Facebook posts and the county's CARE Alerts subscriptions share selected Sheriff's Office releases along with wanted and missing persons material. Treat these as alerts, though. They announce news. They do not let you search past arrests or browse a full booking history.
Custody notifications work differently. For notice when someone is released or transferred, CCSO points to VINE. VADOC notes that NAAVI operates separately from the local-jail VINE system. Neither one is an arrest log or photo archive. Whether you can set up a notification depends on each service's current enrollment steps and eligibility rules.
City Busted Mugshots in Campbell
Campbell's city pages respect local agency lines. No single booking system lumps every town together. Altavista and Brookneal are incorporated towns, each running its own police department. Rustburg plays a different role. As the county seat and a Census-designated place, it has no incorporation, and CCSO, CCADC, and the courts handle its main records routes. None of the three communities publishes a verified daily booking log.
- Altavista Busted Mugshots: Altavista Police Department records, with CCADC locator use only if a person is subsequently held there.
- Rustburg Busted Mugshots: CCSO records, BRRJA-held detention material, and the county-seat court path.
- Brookneal Busted Mugshots: Brookneal Police and town records, with a conditional CCADC connection for later custody.
Local news outlets do cover crime in each community. Still, a story here and there is not a city roster. Two pages dig deeper. The Crime News & Mugshots page maps out Campbell's media landscape, while Most Wanted covers the county's lack of a standing wanted list and points to safer warrant-check routes.
